Three Eagles Flying The Corkscrew! A Celebration of Dan Gurney at Monterey August 2010 celebrated Dan Gurney and All American Racers at the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion in spectacular fashion. Twenty eight works AAR Eagles and significant race cars that Dan piloted were on hand in the main display tent. Among these cars, four were taken to the track for exhibition laps to honor Dan and the many veteran Rolex Grand Am race driver Alex Gurney piloted Dan’s Formula One Westlake Eagle, donning a period helmet, goggles and scarf. Fans were taken aback to 1967 with Alex looking spot on like father Dan back in the day! Alex had these words to say "Turning a few laps in one of my dad's Formula One Eagles is something I never thought I'd get the chance to do. I will forever remember the rumble of that amazing V-12 and the way I fit in the seat. It was an emotional but great moment for me and my entire family. I feel extremely honored to have gotten a tiny taste of what it was like to drive thjose cars. What an opportunity!" RIAM had two Indy Eagles on the grid with Tony Adamaowicz in the 1969 #42 Eagle that was driven by Denis Hulme in the ’69 Indy 500. Making its debut was Eagle #201, the very first Eagle built and completed at All American Racers in 1966, ahead of the Mark 1 Series Formula One car. Doug Magnon, President of RIAM drove this car at the event and says "I was very impressed with the '66 Eagle, it feels nimble and sporty like a Formula One car, much more nimble than our '69 Indy Eagle. I look forward to really opening it up in October at Phoenix International". Rounding out the Eagles was Dario Franchitti in the Maserati Tipo 61 “Birdcage” that Dan Gurney and Stirling Moss drove to victory in the 1000 KM of Nurburgring.
